Academic life is busy and I don’t have time to read as much as before. When I do, I’m simply not interested and it’s difficult to finish even one chapter! What’s up with that?! Anyone else dealing with a massive readers block right now?
I found this book tag on Elaine Howlin’s blog (which was originally posted by Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx), who recently posted her answers to it, and thought I should give it a shot. This month will mark five months since I started running Literally, so I guess it’s about time to update you on my experiences as a blogger. (To everyone who takes the time to read my posts – lots of love. I appreciate it)
Why did you start blogging? & Why have you kept blogging?
I’ve always been interested in blogging and actually had several blogs in the past. My last blog was a movie review blog, but I had a lot of trouble staying committed to it. Literally is the longest I’ve ever had a blog! I started it because I really wanted to get into the book community, share my thoughts with others, and make friends. WordPress turned out to be a difficult place for me to connect, but I keep blogging because regular writing has actually helped me with my university assignments!
What is your favourite type of blog post to write?
I’m still trying to improve the diversity of posts on my blog. I don’t want it to be just reviews, especially since I have nothing to write about when the reader’s block hits. I do enjoy compiling book lists, though sometimes it’s difficult to decide which titles to include!
What are your top three favourite blog posts?
- 10 Best Book-to-Screen Adaptations
- Highlighting the Need for YA Fiction in Foreshadow by Emily X.R. Pan & Nova Ren Suma
- Writing a BA Thesis On Young Adult Literature
What are some of your favourite things to do to relax?
You’d think I’d say reading but no… Actually, reading has felt sort of like a chore recently. I really have to be in the right mindset to sit down and focus on reading. I do like getting some favourite snacks, lighting a candle, and putting on something on Netflix. Especially after a whole day of classes!
What are three of your favourite things?
Autumn leaves, vinyl records, Djungelskog the IKEA bear.
What are your proudest blogging moments?
I don’t have any major milestones on my blog yet, but I was so proud when I was contacted by Algonquin Young Readers and invited to take part in a blog tour for Foreshadow by Emily X.R. Pan & Nova Ren Suma.
What are your hobbies outside of blogging?
I’m actually a huge music fan! I listen to a lot of indie pop/rock and alternative music and looove going to live shows, especially when I have the opportunity to travel abroad. 2020 is obviously not my year when it comes to that, LOL. I also love art – I used to draw a lot, but not anymore – and going to museums.
Describe your personality in three words.
Tired. Emotional. Dreamy.
What are your top three pet peeves?
- Unnecessary loud noises like chewing, tapping or annoying whispering.
- Using “your” instead of “you’re” and other silly grammatical mistakes. Yeah, I’m one of those people.
- Selfishness and lack of compassion.
What’s something your followers don’t know about you?
This blog is so young that there’s so much you don’t know about me! Let’s keep the mystery for a while…
Congrats if you’ve made it this far! Thanks for sticking around and feel free to message me anytime. I can be quite chatty on twitter: @loneiyside.
